提灯にもいろいろありますね

There are many kinds of traditional lanterns of the Japan. These are roughly how to make. Materials, bamboo and washi. This time, I would like to introduce the Kyoto lantern.

提灯い〜っぱいの舞台にて

踊りをお見せしたら楽しいでしょうね

①　提灯は、先ず、乾燥させた竹を丁寧に切り分けます。

②　それらの竹に「矯め tame」を施す

「骨矯め Hone-Tame」で、すべての竹が整えられますThe manufacturing process of lanterns First of all, craftsmen carefully carve the dried bamboo. "Trying" is given to those bamboo. All the bamboo materials are prepared by the "hone-tame".

③ 京提灯の型です

型は下から上へセットされます

④「骨かけ」HONE-KAKE

先ほど「骨かけ」を施した竹の骨を型にはめていきます。The craftsmen put the straightened bamboo bone into the mould.

⑤　糊が塗られます

The glue is painted. La colle est peinte.

⑥　「糸吊り」ITO-TSURI

通す糸は、

まっすぐに整えられます The threads passed in is straightened

Tous les fils sont redressés Todos los hilos se enderezan

和紙が貼られます The WA-SHI paper is pasted.

Le papier est collé. El papel está pegado.

丁寧かつスピードが求められるそうです

灯を灯したときに和紙の重なりが目立たないように、重なる部分は、糸1本分だけに貼られます。職人の心遣いですね

As the overlap of washi is not noticeable when the light is lit, the portion of the paper that overlaps it is affixed to only one thread. It is the consideration of the workman.
