I introduce the Japanese winter pastime

that gives poetic charm from an Ukiyoe print.

広重『浅草田圃 酉の町詣 』

HIROSIGE ”TORI-NO-MACHI-MOHDE”

文政（1818~30）年間の新吉原

浅草田甫には吉原勤めの女性の控屋があったそう。

尾の短い白猫が

遊女屋の窓の格子から外を眺めていますね。

縁起物の熊手を担ぐ人々が田んぼの畦道を行きます。

夕暮れと白い富士。

吉原遊女の華やかな簪（かんざし）

There was a copy shop of the woman of the Yoshiwara work in ASAKUSA-TANNBO.

The line of the people who carry the rake of the mascot on the shoulder, and walk the footpath between rice fields of the rice field earlier whom a cat looks at over the lattice of the window of the brothel is described.

元和４年（1618）幕府公許の遊廓として日本橋葺屋町の辺で営業開始。

遊廓の中には うどん屋・そば屋・うなぎ屋・玉子や寿司の行商もあったそうです。

ちなみにこのシーンは、

出前中のうどん屋と門兵衛が いざこざを起こして 助六が間に入り、成り行きでうどんを買い取る場面 . . . あら？元々の注文主は、おなかペコペコのまま？？

いろいろな食があった吉原でしたが、

遊女たちの食事は１日２食で 粗末だったそう。なんと. . .

文政（1818～30）年間

新吉原は喜の字屋 KI-NO-JI-YA（遊女屋に仕出しをする専門の料理屋）が、大きな台に料理を飾った「台の物」DAI-NO-MONOをデリバリー。しかし、高価なだけで不味かったとか(⌒-⌒; )

赤い台と上の料理が”台の物”です。 . . . 少ない. . .

「１分台」１分（現在の貨幣価値に換算 約2万5千円）

刺身・煮物・硯蓋（口取り）焼物の４種。

天保（1830～44）年間

２朱台（約 1,2万円）煮物・酢の物の２種！べらぼうです！

　遊廓の外からの仕出し料理のほうが良かったでしょうね。

SIN-YOSHIWARA 1818-30 years had a KI-NO--JI-YA age of seventy-seven shop.

こたつ　KOTATSU

歌川国政『猫に美人』

Kunimasa-UTAGAWA a woman and a cat

炬燵に入り、猫とほっこりしている美女。

他の美人画とは違うでしょう？

女性らしいラインを強調するよりも、白猫への優しい表情を描きたかったとの事。鑑賞者もホッコリしますね。

This beautiful woman enters the kotatsu and spends a cat and a time with the security.Will this be different from other paintings of beauties?KUNIMASA drew a gentle expression to dandle a white cat not a feminine line.The feeling of the person of appreciation lets you calm down warmly, too.

日本では、今でもコタツKOTATSUが愛用されてます。

ホカホカあったかい♪

In Japan in winter, people use a heater called KOTATSU which is attached to a square wooden frame and is covered with a thick quilt, and under this they enjoy conversation, warming their hands and feet.

＊こたつは 江戸時代に発達しました＊

（室町時代：囲炉裏の火がおき火になったら 櫓 yagouraをかけ、足を乗せて温めていたのが堀炬燵 hori-gotatsuの原形）

その後、現代の 火鉢と櫓をセットで使う置き炬燵 oki-gotatsuへ発展したそうです。

江戸時代、

木綿の普及・木炭や たどんなど燃料の増産が行われまして、

こたつは急速に普及したそうです。

庶民は麻を着ていました。麻はひんやりします。

夏は良いですが、冬の麻は どんなに冷えたことでしょう . . .

木綿栽培と生産が発達して、お布団も木綿綿の入った布団になったとき、どんなに嬉しかったでしょう！

こたつにも お布団がかけられるようになりました。

しかし . . .

木炭、練炭、たどんは一酸化中毒が発生！火事の危険も。

（電気が普及してからは炭のコタツは姿を消しました）

The Edo era, Cotton spreads . An increase in production of the fuel including the charcoal was carried out, and the kotatsu spread rapidly. The common people wore hemp in those days. It will be a very cold thing in winter ！

The kotatsu of the charcoal disappeared after electricity spread.

Le futon est devenu le futon avec la boule cotonnière, aussi.

Les gens du commun seraient comment contents

Le futon est venu pour être utilisé pour le kotatsu.

Cependant, l'empoisonnement du monoxyde produit du charbon de bois, la briquette. Il y a le danger d'incendie, aussi.

Le kotatsu du charbon de bois a disparu après que l'électricité s'est étendue.

It always comes together with the kotatsu cat in Japan.

The good flowerpots of the dyed pattern including the bonsai of the pine are displayedI see a young bamboo from a window.

The KOTATSU-FUTON is wonderful, too!

The Pattern (the blue-sea dance etc) of

the kimono of ladies is lucky .

Her lesson of the Samisen would be over now.

They are relaxed and are crazy about reading .Her cat is also relaxed .　peaceful scene .

日本橋川を遡っていく舟団は 魚河岸へ向かってるとの事。

初荷の魚介類が満載されてそう！

景気が良くて気持ち良い絵ですね！

両岸には問屋や倉庫が立ち並んでます、魚河岸にあふれる活気！

画面中央を横切る日本橋には 大名行列（新年参賀の登城）

川のセンターのベロ藍ぼかし

そのラインの勢いが、広がりと活気を与えるのですね！

The ship which was fully loaded with fishery products of the first cargo of the

New Year sails up the Nihonbashi River towards a riverside fish market.

The both sides are lined with a wholesale dealer and

warehousesIt is a state full of the vigor of the riverside fish market.

It is the party of the daimyo's procession in Nihonbashi

across the screen center.

The bold shading off of the middle of the river

lets you feel an expanse of the scenery.

冬の街かどグルメ

歌川豊国 『小春十二月の内 初雪・焼芋屋 』虎屋文庫蔵 TOYOKUNI " The first snow・baked sweet potato "

江戸に焼芋屋ができたのは1793（寛政５年）冬との事。

以来、焼芋はずーっと人気を保ってますね！

ゆっくり加熱されたサツマイモは天然の甘さを増します。

ホクホク熱々、甘くて最高！

『番小屋（町内警備のための番人のいる小屋）の番人は お給料が少なかったそうです。副業として駄菓子やろうそく、冬は焼芋などを売っていました』監修 : 松下幸子千葉大学名誉教授 （参照致しました ）
