一雨ごとに季節が緩やかに移っていく・・・風の匂いが変わる

ホンマに 自慢できた季節感でした　けど今はねぇ・・・

風情は refined sense と訳されますが、それだけではなくて、

「決して止まらない」無情感もあり、

「いつかまた巡り来る」希望であり、

「二度と戻らない この今を ありがたく感じる心」を生み出す

それが、日本人の感受性を培ってきたのかしら

Fūzei is often translated as 'refined sense,' but it's not just that.

　In the changing of the seasons, there is a sense of relentless impermanence, a hope that 'it will come again someday,' and a feeling that makes us appreciate 'this very moment that will never return.'

　Perhaps this is what has nurtured the sensitivity of the Japanese people.

わたくしは 教えるときもそうですが、

特に舞台を勤めるとき、必ず自身にこう言います

「二度と戻らないこの時間を、観客に価値ある時間にしてお返しする」

無常だからこそ貴重なの

"I will give back to the audience this time, which will never come again, as something valuable." I always tell myself this, not just when I'm teaching, but especially when I am performing on stage. It is precious precisely because it is fleeting.
