白猫の柔らかい毛並みが空摺 KARA-ZURI で表現されています。

炬燵に入って猫をあやす愛らしい美人さんの無邪気な表情が、鑑賞者をもホッコリさせます。

豊国最初の弟子　国政は、主に役者絵が良かったそうです。大首絵では、近代感覚溢れる作品（写楽とは違うテイスト）女性を美しい線で描く美人画とは趣の異なる独特の世界観は、

現代的の優れたイラストのようでもありますね。

こたつの原型は、室町時代。囲炉裏にやぐらを置き、布団をかぶせたのが始まりとか。その以前には、

囲炉裏の火が「おき」になってから、その上に紙子（和紙でできた着物）を敷き、足をのせてたらしいです。これはアブない！火事が心配。江戸時代に入って、囲炉裏にやぐらをかけるこたつが「掘りごたつ」「切りごたつ」として定着・・・。
