懸魚 宮大工の技術で作られる火災除けのおまじない

今回は　宮大工と懸魚

わたくしも以前から ちょっと不思議に思っていたものです。あの飾りはなにかしら？

製造過程を知って、興味津々になりました。

I always wondered a little, too. I knew the manufacturing process and became interesting. They have the technical mark like the sculptor.

宮大工とは神社仏閣と城郭を専門に建造する専門家です。

彫刻家みたいな技術的も持ちます。

The carpenter specializing in building shrines and temples

is the expert who constructs mainly " Shinto shrine " "Buddhist temple" and "castle".

宮大工　MIYA-DAI-KU

carpenter who specializes in building shrines, temples, castles or palaces.

宮 ：MIYA 皇居　the Imperial Palace・Shinto-shirine .

大工：DAI-KU　carpenter

懸魚：KE-GYO　one of the charm for prevention of fire

魚や亀や水の字など水のものは

火災除けのおまじない

The thing of the water including the character of a fish and a tortoise and the water is the fire charm .

昔々、懸魚は

木で作られた魚の形で 今と同じように吊るされてました

Once upon a time the roof plaque was able to hang in the form of the fish made with a tree in the same way as now

教王護国寺の慶賀門（重文） 鎌倉前期（1185～1274）建立

ちょっとお魚の尾びれのようですね

いつしか、懸魚は、装飾的に変わっていったようです。

もはやお魚の形 . . .とは思えないシェイプですが、

名前だけは魚（懸魚）のままなのですね。

KE-GYO Charm becomes decorative gradually and, The form of the fish is already a shape

not to think of to be it. But, Only the name remains a fish.

懸魚の作られ方　HOW TO MAKE THE KE-GYO

来日したドイツの職人が、

城や宮大工の作業場を視察されました。

The German craftsman who visited Japan inspected a castle and the workshop of the carpenter specializing in building shrines and temples.

彼は「KE-GYOは彫刻家が作ったの？」質問しましたが、

「それらも大工たちが作る」と聞いて

ドイツ人は驚いていた。

He asked them a question

"A sculptor made KE-GYO ?"

" No,Carpenters make them"

The German was surprised to hear so it.

宮大工たちは、懸魚の曲線を鑿 NOMIだけで作ります。

彼らは粗削りから仕上げまでを、

数種類の鑿だけで作り上げる。

.The MIYA-DAI-KU make a curve of KEGYO

only in chisel NOMI.

They make up finish only with several kinds of chisels

from a rough cut.

「鑿で仕上げる事で木の表面が水を弾く仕上げと成る」

「もし、サンドペーパーを使えば、

木の表面は水を吸収してしまう」

雨の多い日本の知恵ですね。

It becomes the finish that the surface of

the wood resists water.

"The surface of the tree absorbs water if I use the sandpaper"

Rainy much Japanese wisdom.

薄く削られた繊細な木材

ドイツ人も、木の専門家。彼はさすが、気付きました。

「鑿がとても良く手入れされている！」

The German is a specialist in tree & wood, too.

As is expected, he noticed

"All chisels are cared for very well ! "

宮大工たちは、各自の仕事を終えたのち、

毎日、自身の鑿を研ぐ。

その時間は３時間！

After having finished work of each person, the MIYA0DAIKU sharpen a chisel of oneself every day.

That time is three hours !

ドイツ人は彼らにいたずらっぽく質問を、

「それは就労時間に含まれているの？」

彼らは微笑んだ。

日本人のプロフェッショナルたちは、

「次の仕事を良くできる為に準備を良くします」

The German asked them a question,

"Is it included at working time?

They smiled.

" Because we are Japanese professionals,

make preparations better,

and we are good by the next work"

出来上がった各パーツは組み立てられます

Each completed part is assembled

懸魚の出来上がり！

The completion of the roof plaque KE-GYO !

たいていは気付かない1パーツですけれど

次回からは、ちゃんと見ようと思います

Mostly it is 1 part which does not notice but, I intend to see it properly from the next time
